9-String Classic Guitar

The modern guitar has six strings as a matter of convention and compromise: it is the smallest number of strings that you can play pretty much any music on. Fans of Baroque and Renaissance music, however, have fallen in love with the sonorities that eight to twenty strings make possible. Accordingly, a few guitarists want to use multiple string guitars; Narciso Yepes made a career out of playing the ten-string classic guitar. This particular instrument of mine was shown at the Smithsonian Institution's Renwick Gallery at an exhibition titled 'The Harmonious Craft', a showing of hand-made musical instruments.
