15" x 21"

Traditional Renaissance lute rose known as "the Knot of Leonardo", in the belief that Leonardo da Vinci originated it. While Leonardo is known to have drawn knotwork designs, it is doubtful that he invented this one. This rose is found on many historical lutes by l6th century makers such as Michielle Harton (Padua), Hans Burkholtzer (Fussen), and Wendelio Venere (Padua). There are some l,300 cut lines, each representing several cutting strokes.
